FAMILY THERAPY
The challenges of everyday life can often create the need for families to seek support. Family counseling encourages families to grow and change to benefit themselves as individuals and as a family unit. Frequently when an individual experiences a life stressor it can have a direct impact on the family as a whole. If you or a family member is experiencing a mental health issue, or other problem that is effecting the whole family, family counseling might be right for you.

COUPLES COUNSELING
Relationships can be one of our greatest sources of joy—and also our deepest challenges. Couples counseling provides a supportive space to slow down, strengthen communication, and better understand one another’s needs. Whether you’re navigating conflict, rebuilding trust, or simply wanting to feel more connected, we work together to help you create a healthier, more secure partnership.

PLAY THERAPY
Play therapy is the most age-appropriate treatment for helping children work through difficult emotions and helping parents gain insight into what their child is experiencing. Designed especially for children, and using the natural activity of play to communicate experiences, feelings, worries, and beliefs, a trained play therapist can assess and understand a child’s world, finding solutions to problems that a child may not have the insight or vocabulary to directly verbalize.
PARENTING SUPPORT
Parenthood comes with its unique set of joys and struggles, and our dedicated support is designed to empower and assist parents in navigating the challenges of raising children. Tailored to provide valuable insights, strategies, and a compassionate understanding of the parenting journey, we equip you with the tools and confidence needed to foster a healthy and thriving parent-child relationship and create a nurturing environment for your family to flourish.

SOMATIC EXPERIENCING
Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is a body-centered approach to healing trauma and stress that works directly with the nervous system. Developed by Dr. Peter A. Levine, SE helps release stored tension and restore regulation that can linger after overwhelming experiences. Rather than focusing only on what happened, SE gently supports awareness of body sensations and nervous system patterns. This allows the body to safely complete stress responses, leading to greater calm, resilience, and a sense of being more grounded and present.
SE may help with anxiety, trauma, chronic stress, emotional overwhelm, dissociation, and long-held tension in the body. It is not just talk therapy—it’s a way to help the nervous system move out of survival and into greater ease and balance.
SE IS SUPPORTIVE FOR ANYONE WHO:
-
Has experienced acute or chronic stress
-
Traumatic events or prolonged overwhelm
-
Anxiety, panic responses, or hyperarousal
-
Dissociation or emotional numbing
-
Long-term activation or tension in the body

EMDR PROTOCOL
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help people heal from the emotional distress caused by difficult or traumatic life experiences. When something overwhelming happens, the brain’s natural ability to process the event can get “stuck,” leaving memories feeling as intense as when they first occurred. This can show up as anxiety, panic, low self-worth, relationship struggles, or feeling easily triggered without fully understanding why. EMDR helps the brain reprocess these experiences so they are stored in a healthier, more adaptive way. During sessions, we briefly focus on specific memories, thoughts, or feelings while also engaging in gentle bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements, tapping, or alternating sounds). This process helps the brain “digest” old experiences, reducing their emotional charge and allowing new, more helpful beliefs to take root.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR does not require you to go into great detail about painful events. Many clients find it to be a more efficient and less overwhelming way to work through trauma and other distressing life experiences.

EMDR CAN BE HELPFUL FOR:
-
Trauma and PTSD
-
Anxiety and panic
-
Childhood experiences that still feel impactful
-
Negative self-beliefs (“I’m not good enough,” “I’m not safe,” etc.)
-
Phobias
-
Grief and loss
-
Performance blocks

The goal of EMDR is not to erase memories, but to help you remember them without feeling flooded, stuck, or defined by them — so you can move forward with greater calm, clarity, and confidence.

SOUND-BASED NERVOUS SYSTEM REGULATION
At Pathways to Growth, we offer the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) and Rest and Restore Protocol (RRP), two evidence-informed, sound-based therapies developed by MyUnyte. These approaches support nervous system regulation by helping the body shift out of stress and survival states and into greater safety, balance, and calm. Rather than relying on talk therapy alone, SSP and RRP work directly with the brain-body connection, making them especially helpful for individuals experiencing chronic stress, overwhelm, shutdown, or difficulty feeling safe in their bodies.
Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)
SSP is a listening-based intervention grounded in Polyvagal Theory. Using specially filtered music that highlights the frequencies of the human voice, SSP provides cues of safety that support social engagement, emotional regulation, and nervous system stability. SSP may help with anxiety, trauma, sensory sensitivities, emotional reactivity, shutdown, and difficulties with connection, focus, or trust.
Rest and Restore Protocol (RRP)
RRP is designed to support deep calming and physiological restoration. Through specially composed music that aligns with the body’s natural rhythms, RRP promotes the “rest and digest” response and supports internal settling and recovery. RRP may help with chronic stress, burnout, sleep difficulties, anxiety, overwhelm, and stress-related somatic symptoms.
What to Expect
SSP and RRP are gentle, non-invasive listening interventions offered in-office or via telehealth. Sessions are carefully paced and tailored to each individual’s nervous system, with support throughout the process. Used together, SSP and RRP support both safety and connection (SSP) and deep restoration and baseline regulation (RRP), creating a strong foundation for healing, resilience, and growth.
